Welcome to "The Runner" blog.

I discovered many years ago I could run (slowly), but I was motivated for the wrong reason. I just wanted to lose weight.

I started my first diet in high school and continued on and off into my late twenties until I decided to give up dieting and give up running. I needed a healthy relationship with food and exercise.

A year or so later I decided to start exercising for the right reasons (health and mental) and started walking. They were very short walks, but they felt good. I slowly increased the distances until one day I was inspired to start running again.

"The Runner" blog is somewhere for me to work through my thoughts as a slower runner, share a few stories and maybe inspire other people to start or continue running. It could be running for social and well-being or training for a 5km or 100km race.
